Senior staff of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, under the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), have appealed to the university management and Ondo State Government to settle years of unpaid allowances and other entitlements.
The union said workers are owed 124 months of hazard allowance and 54 months of arrears from the 2019 minimum wage implementation.
Other outstanding payments listed include 11 months of the 2023 salary adjustment, promotional and incremental arrears dating back to 2023, excess workload allowances from 2015–2019, and about 37 months of third-party deductions owed to cooperative societies.
The union also raised concerns over unpaid July 2026 salaries, entitlements owed to reabsorbed staff, and gratuities and pension benefits of retirees dating back to 2008.
SSANU South-West Chairman, Dr Abdussobur Salaam, called on Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to intervene, while the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Tomola Obamuyi, assured the union that the issues would be examined and steps taken toward resolving them.
