Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has filed a fresh ₦10 billion suit against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), alleging that his wife and son were repeatedly denied access to him while in custody.
In the suit filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, El-Rufai is asking the court to declare that his fundamental rights under the 1999 Constitution remain valid and enforceable despite his detention.
He alleges that the denial of family access violated his rights to dignity and private and family life. He is also seeking ₦10 billion in compensation for the alleged violations.
