Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is reportedly battling stage-four cancer, with his daughters making an emotional appeal for urgent medical intervention.
The actor’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, reportedly made separate emotional appeals on Instagram, calling on Nigerians, medical professionals and well-meaning individuals to help their father access appropriate treatment.
According to the daughters, the family only became aware of the seriousness of their father’s condition about three weeks ago. They further alleged that hospitals treating the veteran actor had declined to continue his treatment.
One of the daughters, Lima, reportedly said the family was not primarily seeking financial donations but was looking for medical professionals, hospitals or treatment centres that could provide further assistance.
Reports also indicate that doctors treating Ogogo have advised against continuing chemotherapy. However, medical professionals have stressed that decisions about cancer treatment depend on the patient’s specific condition and should be made by qualified specialists.
The situation has generated concern among fans and colleagues of the veteran actor, who has spent decades contributing to the Nigerian film industry.
The family is now appealing to anyone with credible information about cancer specialists, hospitals or appropriate treatment options to come forward as they continue searching for help.
The reports about Ogogo’s condition are based on statements attributed to his daughters and media reports; there has not been an independent medical statement publicly confirming all details of his diagnosis or treatment.
