Bolt, Uber To Resume Airport Operations After Licence Agreements Are Finalised — FAAN

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed that Bolt and Uber will resume operations at Nigerian airports once their licence agreements with the authority are finalised.

According to FAAN, the ride-hailing companies are currently required to complete the necessary licensing and operational arrangements before they can fully return to designated airport locations.

The development follows concerns over the operation of ride-hailing services within airport premises, where authorities have been working to establish clearer rules for pick-up points, driver access, passenger safety and airport traffic management.

Under the proposed arrangements, drivers operating at airports are expected to comply with FAAN’s requirements and any applicable airport-specific regulations.

The eventual return of Bolt and Uber is expected to make transportation easier for passengers arriving at or departing from Nigerian airports, particularly travellers who prefer app-based transportation services.

FAAN said the platforms can resume once the agreements are concluded, meaning passengers may have to wait for the formal completion of the process before normal airport operations begin.

The authority is expected to provide further information on the approved arrangements, including the effective date and operational guidelines, after the licence agreements are finalised.
