Nigerian actress Toyosi Adesanya has given a fresh update on veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, amid his ongoing battle with stage-four cancer.
Adesanya disclosed that Ogogo has now been admitted to the operating theatre for treatment following efforts to secure urgent medical attention for the veteran actor.
The latest development followed an emotional appeal by Ogogo’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, who recently revealed that their father was battling stage-four cancer and needed urgent medical assistance.
The family had explained that they were not seeking financial donations but needed assistance in finding medical professionals and facilities capable of treating the actor.
Kira reportedly said the family only became aware of the seriousness of Ogogo’s condition about three weeks earlier, adding that the cancer had affected his abdomen. She also said some medical institutions had indicated that they could no longer continue with chemotherapy and appealed for alternative treatment options.
Following the family’s appeal, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, reportedly intervened by contacting cancer specialists and helping to facilitate urgent medical care for the actor.
Toyosi Adesanya later announced that Ogogo had been admitted to the operating theatre, expressing gratitude for the intervention and the medical support secured for the actor.
Meanwhile, Ogogo’s family has debunked reports claiming that the veteran actor had died, confirming that he is alive and currently receiving medical attention.
Details of the specific procedure Ogogo is undergoing and the outcome of the operation have not yet been publicly disclosed.
Ogogo, 66, is one of the respected veterans of the Yoruba movie industry and has spent decades contributing to the growth of Nollywood.
Fans, colleagues and well-wishers continue to pray for the actor’s successful treatment and recovery.
