The All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council in Osun State has said it will not congratulate Governor Ademola Adeleke yet, despite his declaration as winner of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The Director-General of the APC Governorship Campaign Council, Oluwole Oke, said the party was still conducting a detailed review of the election results and the overall conduct of the poll before deciding its next course of action.
Oke stated that the campaign council’s position was different from that of President Bola Tinubu, who had already congratulated Adeleke following the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The APC campaign council also rejected INEC’s declaration, insisting that its assessment indicated that Adeleke did not obtain the highest number of valid votes.
According to the council, its agents have been directed to submit copies of relevant result sheets, including Forms EC8A, EC8B and EC8C, for a detailed audit.
The party said it was reviewing results from all 332 wards across Osun State and would consult with its legal team if the review reveals irregularities that could justify a legal challenge.
INEC declared Adeleke the winner after he polled 511,067 votes, while the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, secured 444,815 votes. Adeleke won 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11.
The APC campaign council said it would announce its final position after completing the review and determining whether to pursue available legal options.
The development means the political contest surrounding the Osun governorship election could continue beyond INEC’s declaration as the APC considers its next move.
