Lagos Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab Warns Car Spotters Against Blocking Public Roads

Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has warned car spotters against obstructing public roads and interfering with the privacy of residents while carrying out their activities.

Wahab clarified that car spotting is not prohibited in Lagos, stressing that practitioners are free to operate within designated car lots and other appropriate locations.

However, he warned that the government would not tolerate situations where car spotters occupy or block public roads, create traffic obstructions, or disrupt the normal movement of motorists and pedestrians.

The commissioner also raised concerns about privacy, cautioning practitioners against invading people’s personal space or filming individuals and activities in places where privacy should be respected.

He urged car spotters to conduct their activities responsibly and within the boundaries of the law, noting that the government’s position is aimed at maintaining order, protecting public spaces and ensuring that residents can go about their daily activities without unnecessary disruption.

The warning comes amid growing attention to car-spotting activities in Lagos, particularly around areas where luxury and high-end vehicles are frequently displayed or spotted.

Wahab maintained that while the government recognises legitimate activities around car lots, public roads must remain accessible and free from obstruction.
