The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves to remain in office for a long time, citing what he described as the President’s performance and infrastructure interventions.
Ladoja made the remarks on Monday, August 24, 2026, during the flag-off of the reconstruction and dualisation of the Ibadan–Ijebu-Ode Road.
The monarch stressed that the event was not an APC rally, saying Tinubu should be regarded as the President of Nigeria rather than simply an APC president.
According to Ladoja, the poor condition of the Ibadan–Ijebu-Ode Road had contributed to security concerns, including kidnapping along the corridor. He expressed confidence that the reconstruction would improve safety, transportation and economic activities between Ibadan and Ijebu-Ode.
The 56.5-kilometre road project, valued at about ₦296–₦297 billion, is expected to strengthen connectivity between Oyo and Ogun states and improve access to the Lagos-Ogun economic corridor. Tinubu also approved the reconstruction and dualisation of the Abeokuta–Ibadan Road.
Ladoja acknowledged that Tinubu’s performance could also improve the APC’s chances in future elections, but maintained that political parties seeking to defeat the ruling party would have to convince Nigerians that they could provide a better alternative.
He further expressed confidence that the people of Ibadanland would make their political decision when the time comes.
