FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has declared that his political mission ahead of the 2027 general election is to put pressure on opposition figures, particularly former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Friday, Wike said he was not interested in making his political opponents comfortable, insisting that his goal was to defeat them at the polls.
“I don’t want them to feel well. It is not my wish for them to feel well. My business is to make them not feel well all day, because they will be having high blood pressure,” Wike said.
The minister also argued that Nigeria currently has no formidable opposition party, blaming the internal crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for weakening its position as the leading opposition platform.
Wike, who supports President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid while remaining a PDP member, also spoke about ongoing political realignments, predicting the emergence of a larger “Rainbow Coalition” in support of Tinubu.
He maintained that his priority in the political contest was to ensure victory for his camp rather than worry about how Atiku, Obi or other opposition figures feel.
